Mexico, a country more than four times the size of Spain in terms of geographical extension and population, is a market where GHI has been present for over 30 years. Its growth over the last ten years offers great potential for our products.

Part of this growth is due to the interest it has raised among major car assembly companies, given its proximity to the USA and low production costs. So major car assembly companies have set up in Mexico, and with them come this sector’s support companies.

Well aware of Mexico’s potential, over the course of 2016 we made frequent business trips to different parts of the country, three of which we visited as exhibitors at the largest aluminium and foundry sector trade fairs. We also gave two talks on equipment for the aluminium industry, where our technology raised interest and expectation. GHI is considered a reference for the aluminium sector as regards equipment and turnkey installations.

To continue with this market penetration and expansion work, we decided to open an in-country sales office which was joined by Iñaki Sáez, who is completing the final stage of the Basque Government Master’s Degree in Internationalisation.

This office will be used to serve the Mexican market directly, supported by GHI technicians who will visit it at intervals to give assistance and personalised service to our customers.

Although initial work has focused on the cast aluminium sector, in the short and medium term the goal is to expand into other sectors and metals.
