ZnStack: Development of new melting and holding furnace for zinc recycling

furnace 4.0

This project, developed in collaboration with Indaux and Tecnalia technology center, aims to develop a new melting and recovery furnace for non-ferrous elements, especially for zinc alloys, that allows better use of the load and greater energy efficiency, working with raw materials of high organic or complex content.

The expected results of the project are the following:

  1. Design a melting furnace for the recovery of complex zinc-based materials, which can also be used for other low-melting materials such as aluminum.
  2. Obtain cast zinc alloys at a lower price, which are more competitive in the market.
  3. Generate knowledge about the parameters that influence the efficiency of the melting towers for low melting point alloys.

This project, ZnStack, has been co-financed by the SPRI, Business Development Agency of the Basque Government.
