GHI at Bizkaia Open Future

This was the challenge that we launched in the Bizkaia Open Future, an initiative of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and Telefónica, in search of new entrepreneurial talent that will provide us with an innovative solution to intelligently, efficiently and in real time manage the charging of the raw material to GHI’s rotary furnaces for aluminium recycling.

There were 29 startups and SMEs, both national and international, that participated in this project that supports the digital transformation in the industrial sector, a process in which GHI has been involved with the aim of offering smart furnaces to our customers.

Datu(a) Smart Digital, a Basque startup dedicated to consulting and digital services based on data, was selected as the  winner of this challenge due to its great contribution to the digitalization of GHI.

Thanks to their innovative vision and our “know how”, we will be able to complement our Beyond 4.0 services in order to, among other objectives, warn of the optimal moment for charging in the rotary furnace, identify the determining factors that must be met in the optimization of the charging moment and automatize, as far as possible, the decision making that is currently done manually, thus mitigating the subjectivity that the human factor can have in this process.

We would like to thank all the participants and especially Datua, for their great work!
