They are used for log homogenising prior to extrusion in order to improve
mechanical and metallurgical characteristics. The ingots placed in layers
are introduced into the furnace chamber by means of a loading machine
which takes them automatically from a charging table. Once the treatment
has been completed, logs are transfered to a controlled cooling chamber
and lastly to a discharge table. Due to the conditions required for
this treatment, the atmosphere inside the furnace must circulate at
high speed through the log layers.
